SYRIA – Conflict and humanitarian situation
• Heavy fighting and military offensives continue in several parts of Syria, with increased aerial bombardment reported in the governorates of Aleppo, Ar--Raqqa, Hassakeh, Deir ez-Zor. In Dar’a governorate, several towns have come under intense artillery shelling in the past weeks.
• On 18 June, air attacks in the village of Al-Shajarah, resulted in the death of several people.

IRAQ – Conflict and humanitarian situation
• Latest estimates by humanitarian organizations indicate: 200 000 IDPs in Dohuk governorate, 100 000 in Erbil governorate, 25 000 still within Mosul, while some 175 000 displaced persons would scattered throughout the region. Many families are in staying in makeshift camps along the border with the Kurdish Region of Iraq (KR-I)

CHINA– Severe weather
• Severe weather (heavy rains, hail, winds) affected northern China on 16-18 June, causing floods, casualties and damage in Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, Gansu, Liaoning and Xinjiang.
• As of 19 June, there were 11 deaths.

Myanmar - Clashes
• Shan State: daily clashes between the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the Burmese Army have continued over the past week. Hundreds of people fled their homes in Kutkai.
• The TNLA and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) have not signed a ceasefire agreement with the government.

Philippines – Zamboanga crisis
• DG ECHO allocated a further EUR 250 000 to assist victims of the conflict in Zamboanga in September last year.
Some 3 800 families are still living in very difficult conditions in overly congested evacuation centres.

CAMBODIA/THAILAND – Return of large number of migrants
• The number of illegal migrants returning from Thailand to Cambodia has reached 171 000 over the period 6-17 June.
• Many Thai employers were left without workers. Concerns about a negative impact on the economy.
• IOM, NGOs and the Red Cross provided food, medical services and transport.

SUDAN – Conflict and humanitarian situation
• South Kordofan: a civilian hospital (Médecins Sans Frontières), clearly identified with a flag and a cross on the roof, was struck by bombs during an air attack on 16 June (one medical worker injured, damage to the facilities).
• The Acting United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan issued a statement in Khartoum on the protection of medical units.
• The EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response condemned the bombing, stating: "Attacks on medical services by armed forces is a crime under international law. I take note that the Sudanese authorities have denied responsibility and I urge the Sudanese government to immediately investigate the circumstances and establish who was responsible." • In May 2014, a hospital in the Nuba mountains was also bombed.

CÔTE D'IVOIRE– Severe weather
• Heavy rains have been affecting Côte d'Ivoire during the past few weeks, causing landslides.
• Abidjan: one landslide killed four people on 18 June and another one killed six people on 12 June.
• In the next five days, more rains may still affect southern Côte d'Ivoire.
